Terms of Service

MailBalance is a free tool offered as-is. Using it means accepting the terms below.

Last updated: 23 July 2026

1. What the service is

MailBalance is a web page that analyses the storage footprint of your Gmail mailbox and shows you which messages, senders, labels and years account for it. It runs entirely in your browser. There is no account to create and no fee.

2. What it does not do

MailBalance never modifies, sends or deletes mail. It holds a read-only metadata scope, which makes writing to your mailbox technically impossible. When you want to act on a result, MailBalance hands you a link into Gmail; every deletion is performed by you, in Gmail, under your own control.

3. Your responsibilities

4. Accuracy

Sizes reported by MailBalance come from Gmail's own sizeEstimate field and are estimates. Totals may differ from the figure Google shows for your account, and an in-progress scan shows a partial picture. Do not treat MailBalance's numbers as an authoritative statement of your storage usage.

5. Privacy

Data handling is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: metadata only, nothing leaves your browser.

6. Availability

MailBalance is provided without any guarantee of availability. It may be changed, interrupted or discontinued at any time without notice. It also depends on the Gmail API remaining available to it; if Google changes or withdraws that access, the tool may stop working.

7. No warranty

MailBalance is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the publisher of MailBalance shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of your use of or inability to use the service — including data you delete in Gmail after consulting it. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Relationship to Google

MailBalance is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Google LLC. Gmail, Google and Google One are trademarks of Google LLC.

10. Changes

These terms may be updated; the current version always lives at this URL with its "last updated" date. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
